At Idurus Development, we believe that education is the key to unlocking potential and creating lasting change in communities. Our Education Empowerment Program is dedicated to providing accessible, quality education to children and adults in Northern Kenya and Ethiopia. Through our initiatives, we aim to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to build a better future for themselves and their communities.
Key Achievements
Our commitment to education has led to several significant achievements:
Construction of Alternative Basic Education (ABE) Schools: We have built two ABE schools, providing essential educational opportunities for children in underserved areas. These schools offer flexible learning schedules tailored to the needs of pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities, ensuring that education is accessible to all.
Water Roof Catchments: In addition to the schools, we have constructed six water roof catchments funded by TIKA (a Turkish NGO). These catchments ensure that students and community members have access to clean water, promoting a healthy learning environment and reducing the burden of water collection on families.

Alternative Basic Education (ABE): Our ABE schools provide flexible, community-based education for children who cannot attend traditional schools due to their family’s nomadic lifestyle or other challenges. Adult Literacy Programs: We offer literacy programs for adults, enabling them to acquire essential reading, writing, and numeracy skills. These programs empower adults to participate more fully in community life and improve their economic prospects.
Teacher Training and Development: To ensure high-quality education, we invest in the training and professional development of teachers. Our programs focus on equipping teachers with the skills and knowledge they need to deliver effective, inclusive education.
School Infrastructure and Resources: We are committed to providing safe, well-equipped learning environments. In addition to constructing schools, we supply educational materials, furniture, and other resources necessary for a conducive learning experience.
