In the arid regions of Northern Kenya and Ethiopia, food security is a critical issue, especially during times of drought and other natural disasters. At Idurus Development, our Food Support Program is dedicated to addressing hunger and malnutrition by providing essential food and resources to vulnerable communities. Through various targeted initiatives, we strive to improve the nutritional status and overall well-being of those most in need.
Our Food Support Program encompasses several key projects aimed at delivering immediate and long-term relief to drought-affected populations:
Non-Food Items (NFI) and Nutrition Food for Drought-Affected People: Funded by MISEREOR, this project focuses on providing essential non-food items and nutritious food to individuals and families severely impacted by drought. By distributing vital resources, we help alleviate immediate hunger and support the nutritional needs of affected communities.
Animals Fattening Project: This innovative project, also funded by MISEREOR Germany, aims to improve food security through livestock management. By providing support for animal fattening, we enhance the livelihoods of pastoralist communities, enabling them to produce more meat and milk. This project not only addresses nutritional needs but also boosts economic resilience in drought-prone areas.
Food Aid Emergency Program: In response to urgent food crises, our Food Aid Emergency Program delivers critical food supplies to those in dire need. Funded by MISEREOR Germany, this program ensures that vulnerable populations receive timely assistance during emergencies, helping to prevent malnutrition and starvation.
Our Food Support Program has made a significant impact on the lives of many individuals and families. Here are a few examples of our achievements:
